Ghost hunters seek signs of supernatural

"PARKERSBURG - Virginia Lyons felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up.

A man's laughter echoed in the dark lobby of the Colony Theater in Marietta where she felt a gentle tug on her hair, but when she turned around, no one was there.

At the time, Lyons was a 16-year-old concession worker cleaning at the Colony Theater after closing time. The experience was one of several in her childhood that sparked her interest in paranormal activity...

Man claims American cargo plane sits still in sky, then disappears

Report from MUFON:

Date of event: April 13, 2010
Location of event: near Point Pleasant, West Virginia

"I was driving south on 35, somewhere between Point Pleasant and Southside, WV. To my left, I saw what looked like a huge plane flying way too low. I thought it was going to crash with it being so low, so I started to slow down. The closer I got to it, I saw that it was a military cargo plane.

Then, it seemed like it was not moving... so I stopped almost completely when I got right beside it. It was not moving. I turned down my radio and there was no noise from the plane. It looked like a big military cargo plane, it couldn't have been any higher in the air than the top of a telephone pole.

I could read the stickers on it it was so low. All I remember of the stickers is that there was an American flag and numbers and letters, no words. The plane was not tipping in any direction. It was completely still. Just sitting in the air.

After about a minute of being right beside it, traffic started coming from the other direction, so I had to move. Once the traffic moved, I could not see it anywhere behind me. There was no plane and no smoke from a crash. It was just gone.

I had the worst feeling of a panic attack I have ever felt. It started just as soon as I looked over at the plane when it was beside me. My entire chest hurt and I felt like I was going to vomit. I was so afraid. And, I do not know why!"

Diamond shaped UFO seen near airport in West Virginia

Report from MUFON:

Date of event: March 3, 2010
Location of event: Dellslow, West Virginia

"I was driving through Dellslow, West Virginia, outside of Sabraton-Morgantown when I noticed "two" white lights on the mountain top to my right. I pulled the vehicle off to the side of the road and watched the craft glide silently from the right side of the road from that mountain top to the left side of the road to the other mountain top.

The craft was gliding right above the tree line and when the craft was crossing the road I saw "four" white lights in a diamond shape and a solid outline of a solid, silver craft with bright white non-flashing lights at each tip, and a bright red light toward the rear of the craft. There were absolutely no green lights on the craft whatsoever.

What makes me a little suspicious is the direction the craft was flying was in the direct line of the local airport runway. I used to live right beside that runway in apartment buildings called West Run Apartments. Those apartments are at the base of the approach into the runway, because the planes would always fly into the runway 100 yards directly over my building.

The sighting of this craft was at the opposite end of the runway according to Map Quest, and was heading in the direction of the departure end of the runway. I am not familiar with FAA regulations, but I am sure there are regulations that prohibit craft from flying in the direction of planes departing the runway.

Unlike most encounters others may have had, my vehicle did not malfunction nor have any electrical shortages. It stayed on, nothing shorted out, and the car did not stall.

Paranormal Case #3 - Mothman

Background/description:
In early November, 1966 various reports became to come in of a huge bird-like creature with red-glowing eyes around the area of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The sightings were focused around an area the locals call “TNT”, because it had been used as an explosives depot during the Second World War and there were many abandoned chemical and industrial plants in the vicinity. Sightings were made throughout the year and not before long they became more and more bizarre; now also reports of UFOs and “Men in Black” came in to the local police station. Soon the sightings begun to die out and the creature they called “Mothman” were not seen again.

Evidence for:
There are several evidences that support that something strange lurked around Point Pleasant. Many reports, actually topping around 100, from very credible persons were handed in to police, who actually took it seriously and investigated Mothman, but they didn’t find anything.

Evidence against:
There is not in any way any physical evidence from Mothman supporting its existence. There are several theories what the witnesses actually saw. Probably what they was just an big owl, maybe an barn or snowy owl. Also skeptics suggest that the Mothman's glowing eyes are actually red-eye caused from the reflection of light, from flashlights, or other light sources that witnesses may have had with them.

Conclusion:
This story sounds at first like the creation of an overworked comic book writer, but according to the well over 100 reportedly saw this creature it was real. It’s hard to dismiss everyone’s sigthing, but it’s likely the creature they saw was just an oversized owl and the result of human paranoia.
